UPDATE REGARDING GLACIER NATIONAL PARK
This summer, Glacier National Park eliminated its park-wide vehicle reservation and timed-entry systems for 2026. You can enter at any time without pre-booking a vehicle pass. However, a standard park entrance fee or National Parks Pass is still required (which you can purchase at any of the entry gates)
While reservations are gone, you should be aware of a few key operational changes for the summer. This video outlines everything you need to know from our local Glacier National Park from our local travel advisor, Jeff Hyer.
1. Logan Pass Parking Limits
To help manage congestion, private vehicle parking at Logan Pass is limited to 3 hours or less between July 1 and September 7. You will need to obtain a free, timestamped parking permit from the kiosk and place it on your dashboard when parking.
2. Ticketed Express Shuttles
Because of the parking limits, if you plan to do longer hikes (like the Highline Trail) that begin at Logan Pass, you will need to book an express shuttle ticket.
- Tickets are assigned to specific boarding locations and times.
- Tickets can be purchased on Recreation.gov for a $1 processing fee.
- 60-day advance tickets roll out in advance, and remaining next-day tickets are released at 7:00 PM MDT.
3. Congestion Management
Instead of pre-booked timed entry, rangers will temporarily close or divert traffic at park entrances if heavy-traffic corridors or parking lots reach capacity.
For live road status, current shuttle availability, and detailed pass pricing, always refer to the official NPS Glacier National Park Fees & Passes.
